Ford Crash Out Of Hants Cup

College Youth 16-0 CFY

Chandlers Ford were completely outplayed from start to finish in a game that everyone will want to forget as quickly as possible. It was a tough game against very strong opponents, however we will do a lot better against the teams in our league - bring on Portchester 'B' (next Saturday 16th September) !

CFY 3-2 Winchester

CHANDLERS FORD 3-2 WINCHESTER

Jozef Montigue helped Chandlers Ford to an early lead as he latched onto a wayward goal kick by getting the ball out of his feet and chipping over the keeper into the bottom right corner.

Winchester rarely threatened however their first attempt on goal pegged CFY back only one minute after the opening goal. The visitors raced through on goal and a fluke long distance lob found its way over Karthik Basker and into the top corner for the equaliser.

CFY could have taken the lead once more as Robbie Hurst burst forward from defence smashing the ball against the cross bar.

It was soon 2-1 through Thorsten Tramischus who reacted quickly in the box from a David Harris corner. The looped in hitting the post before Thorsten poked the ball in from the rebound.

HALF TIME – CFY 2-1 Winchester

In the second half Winchester had several chances to pull the game level, and it wasn’t long before they came close. Karthik Basker was kept busy making some good saves but with the defence playing too deep it meant their opponents could run free on goal and not be offside.

The equaliser came mid-way through the half through a headed goal. It looked like it would end this way until the last moments of the match. With some of the first half players being given a rest Chandlers Ford all of a sudden looked brighter when captain David Phillips and strikers Montigue and Tramischus returned to the pitch.

Right at the death, Jozef Montigue brought the ball down with his chest laying it off for Liam Godfrey who belted the ball low and hard which proved to be too hot to handle for the Winchester keeper as it crept over the line for the winning goal.

CFY suffer heavy defeat to Locksheath

CHANDLERS FORD 1-7 LOCKSHEATH
02.09.06 – FRIENDLY

TEAM: Karthik Basker, Robbie Hurst, David Phillips (c), David Bromhead, Liam Godfrey, David Harris, Ryan Dennis, Michael Wall, Ryan Chinn, Thorsten Tramishcus, Jozef Montigue
SUBS: Ahmed Sfagsi, Tom Pope, Gavin Hawkins, Aiden Chandler, Miles Hodge

After a late cancellation from Stoneham Park, Locksheath Lions, champions of the B League last year, agreed to play us at short notice.

For 30 minutes, Chandlers Ford were more than a match for the newly promoted side. They held their own at the back against a side that played good passing football.

In the opening moments of the game, CFY could have taken the lead through Michael Wall who had a go from 20 yards but his effort flew wide of goal.

Robbie Hurst and David Phillips marshalled the defence very well and some good saves from Karthik Basker ensured the scores remained level - for the time being at least.

One moment of lost concentration caused Chandlers Ford to concede the opening goal of the game as Liam Godfrey got turned on the right wing before the ball being whipped into the box and then a firm header flying into the corner leaving Basker no chance.

On the stroke of half time, the visitors won a corner which CFY failed to deal with and as a result this cost them as they conceded a second goal in the space of a couple of minutes.

HALF TIME – CFY 0-2 Locksheath

Having made a number of changes at the break, CFY looked more vulnerable at the back, leading to an onslaught from the Lions.

A combination of pace, quick and accurate passing, and lethal finishing led to Chandlers Ford not being able to cope defensively. A further five goals went Locksheath's way although if it were not for the brilliant Karthik Basker, the scoreline would have looked an awful lot worse and probably would have been in double figures.

Chandlers Ford did grab a consolation through Thorsten Tramishchus with a lovely headed goal. David Harris swung in an inch perfect free kick from the right that was confidently despatched into the back of the net with a glancing header from new signing Tramishcus.

Thorsten went on to win the man of the match award for a good display all round display up front, which he capped with a goal but not only did he score he brought others into play and led the line well alongside Jozef Montigue.

It was slightly disappointing to concede so many soft goals in the second half after playing so well in the first 35 minutes of the game. However there were some good performances against a strong A division team.

Lets make sure we bounce back with a win on Thursday as we continue our preparation for the new season, which kicks off against College Youth in the league cup a week today.

Ranville 2-3 CFY - Pre Season Friendly

RANVILLE RANGERS 2-3 CHANDLERS FORD
26.08.06 – FRIENDLY

TEAM: Karthik Basker, Robbie Hurst, Ahmed Sfagsi, David Bromhead, David Phillips, David Harris, Ryan Dennis, Michael Wall, Ryan Chinn, Jozef Montigue (c), Thorsten Tramischus
SUBS: Tom Pope, Aiden Chandler, Liam Godfrey, Miles Hodge

Chandlers Ford got off to a winning start as they began their preparations for the coming season with a strong performances all round. This was the third times the two clubs had met a pre-season friendly, Chandlers Ford winning 6-1 and 2-0 in previous matches.

It has been a summer of ins and outs at CFY with Matt Lucas deciding to leave, along with Jack Goodeve, Reece Middleton and Lee Robertson who all followed in the footsteps of Ronan Galloway and Sabri Elmasri, who quit half way through the 2005/2006 season. However, despite some quality players making way, there are a number of good additions to this years squad including a number of trialists from last year signing on, Thorsten Tramischus returning and Tyro Rep winger David Harris joining, also from St. Francis.

Ranville started the game brightly making a lot of chances down the right hand side forcing some excellent saves out of Karthik Basker.

Despite all of the home sides possession, Chandlers Ford took the lead through Michael Wall who added another long range cracker to his name. The ball came out to Wall 25 yards from goal after Ranville failed to clear a corner kick, and the midfielder struck the ball cleanly into the roof of the net to give CFY an undeserved lead.

Before this goal, Thorsten Tramischus could have and probably should have opened the scoring as he pounced on an awful headed back pass that was way short of the keeper, however Thorsten was denied by the Ranville goalie who rushed out of his goal well.

Ranville ended the half strongly with a number of efforts coming close but Basker once more was at the heart of keeping his side in the game.

HALF TIME – Ranville 0-1 CFY

After perhaps being lucky to go in 1-0 up at half time, Chandlers Ford soon found themselves two goals to the good. New signing David Harris took the ball past his opponent skilfully before crossing the ball. Tramischus flicked it on for Jozef Montigue who did the rest with a lovely well-taken goal. Montigue skipped past the last defender, rounded the goalkeeper with ease and finished off what was a great team move to double Chandlers Ford’s lead.

Ranville eventually got a goal, which it has to be said was deserved for the amount of chances they had, as they pulled themselves back into the game punishing some weak defending.

David Phillips was denied a great goal as he came up for a free kick, not only by the post but also the offside flag. Montigue swung the ball in and it fell for the centre back who lashed a good volley goal bound.

Another free kick from Montigue led to Thorsten Tramischus scoring on his return for the club as he calmly slotted the ball into the bottom right hand corner as Chandlers Ford continued to show their attacking threat.

David Harris had a very impressive debut on the right wing, not only was he good going forward but he also got back well to defend. Harris very nearly capped off the performance with what would have been a fantastic goal as he took on defender after defender before losing the ball in the six yard box.

Chandlers Ford then conceded a soft goal after a mix up in the defence led to Ranville’s second goal. All in all it was a good win!
