Trip to St. Marys

St. Mary's trip:

We would like all the boys and parents if possible to come and see the Saints Youth team play Liverpool in the FA Youth Cup semi-final second leg on Friday the 18th March.

Last year we did a similar event watching the Saints under 18's play Ipswich and it was good for the team to get together.

The cost will be £3 for an adult and £1 per child.

Crofton Saints 6-0 Chandlers Ford

CROFTON SAINTS 6-0 CHANDLERS FORD
29/1/2006

Crofton Saints won the game comfortably in the end despite the visitors giving it a good go.

Jack Burns was probably the only difference between the two teams, not only did the Crofton midfielder chip in with four good goals but he brought others into play and was at the heart of every Crofton move.

Injury Problems

INJURY ADDS TO THIN SQUAD WORRIES

Lee Robertson has broken his arm leaving him out of action for six weeks. This only adds to the already slim squad that Richard has available for selection. With Galloway and Elmasri moving on and Dale Hansford very rarely available due to other commitments there are only thirteen players currently signed on that are fit and well!

We hope that Lee can recover sooner rather than later but the most important thing for the players to do despite these problems is to have fun and to enjoy their football. Anything on top of that is a bonus.

CFY 0-6 College Youth

CFY 0-6 COLLEGE YOUTH
21/01/2006

Karthik Basker was in fine form today with a string of top drawer saves. A massive improvement on the previous meeting!

Everyone played their part to make the champions sweat for victory. A great first half performance where only two good finishes gave College the advantage.

League Cup Semi Final Draw

Chandlers Ford will have to come up against the Portsmouth side for the fourth time this season after being drawn against Portchester in a home tie for the semi-final of the league cup.

Having already beaten Lee Rangers and Crofton B in this competition in previous rounds, the clubs toughest test will come up in February when the two sides meet again.

Looking back to last season, when we played Portchester in the semi-final of the Hants Cup where we probably played our best agaisnt them out of all our previouis meetings, where the 5-1 scoreline flatted them.

The game will be played at Crestwood on the 11th February.

CFY 2-4 Stubbington

14/01/2006

David Bromhead scores his first of the season with a great chip as CFY slip up against a Stubbington side that fought for every ball.

Reece Middleton scored the other goal for the home side, but Stubbington it seems have now secured safety as there win leaves us needing at least a win and a draw from our remaining games which unfortunately is looking unlikely.

Elmasri Quits

14/01/2006

After several hints already this season, Sabri Elmasri has now quit the club after claiming he is “no longer into football”. We would like to thank Sabri for the way that he has performed for the club over the last three seasons. He has scored some truly memorable free kicks and he is one of the players from this team to have gone past 100 games for the club. His record too is superb for a midfielder, 123 appearances, 69 goals. Once again thank you.

Galloway Completes Move to Bishops Waltham

05/01/2006

We can now confirm that CFY's top striker Ronan Galloway has signed for Bishops Waltham Dynamoes under 13's. Hot shot Ronan has scored an incredible 126 goals in 122 appearances over the last three seasons.

We would like to thank him for his service and the massive part that he played in getting Chandlers Ford to where they are now – the A Division. His record from last season speaks volumes for how key Ronan was in our promotion campaign in 2004/05 with a fantastic 40 goals for the league campaign in just sixteen league games.

Add to that a tally of five goals of our thirteen league goals this year in a much harder division, this demonstrates what a tremendous, lethal finisher Ronan is and how hard he has worked for the club. Lets not forget he started off as a centre back in mini soccer (and even then he scored goals) before being nurtured and coached into what has made him so well known in Mid Solent Football a deadly striker that will give any defender a run for their money.

We wish you every success for the future.

CFY 2-1 Clanfield

5.2.05 – LEAGUE

Clanfield started this match the brighter side, and for long periods of the game they had CFY pinned back in their own half. The visitors created a number of attacks on goal, but keeper Lee Robertson and the back three of Godfrey, Bromhead and Phillips soaked up the pressure and dealt with everything that was thrown at them.

Chandlers Ford began to find their feet towards the end of the half when they strung some good attacking moves together with Matt Lucas at the heart of it. Lucas made a great run past two players before picking out Jozef Montigue who was free in side of the penalty area on the right hand side, but Montigue’s strike was off target.

Neither side could find a break through in a very close first half between two sides that were evenly matched, despite the difference in position in the league table.

HALF TIME – CFY 0-0 Clanfield

It was Clanfield who made a good start to the second half, when they broke the deadlock minutes after the interval. CFY gave away a free kick on the right hand side by the half way line, which was taken quickly and pumped forward into the feet of the skilful Clanfield striker Leroy Rudd who neatly chipped the Chandlers Ford keeper from a tight angle from range.

The home side were then awarded a penalty when Galloway was brought down in the box. Matt Lucas stepped up and converted the penalty with a neat finish into the bottom right hand corner to grab the equaliser for Chandlers Ford.

Both sides battled away and both sides had chances to win the game, but it was CFY and top goalscorer Ronan Galloway who grabbed a dramatic winner with seconds to play. After another good move by Chandlers Ford, a great counter attack saw Galloway put through one on one with the Clanfield keeper which he coolly placed into the back of the net from distance.

FULL TIME – CFY 2-1 Clanfield
