CFY 15-0 Botley

After a poor performance only two days before against Colden Common, CFY more than made up for it with a totally dominant and emphatic win. It was a great way to end the eleven a side matches and hopefully we can build on this and do well in the six a side tournaments.

Matt Lucas got the ball rolling after only 30 seconds when a quickly taken corner by Reece Middleton found Matt and he took a couple of touches before picking out the top corner with a great strike.

It was soon to be 2-0 when Jozef Montigue scored with a first time volley from the edge of the area to keep up his recent goalscoring form.

Reece Middleton lofted the ball nicely over the keepers head to make it 3-0 before Jozef Montigue went on to score three more goals to complete his hattrick and to grab four well taken goals before half time showing a good strikers instinct around the area.

The Chandlers Ford players were in complete control and had lots of chances playing some good attacking football.

CFY made it 7-0 when Montigue flicked the ball on for Lucas who fired into the bottom right hand corner for his second goal of the day.

HALF TIME - Chandlers Ford 7-0 Botley

Botley did well for the first five or ten minutes as they fought well at the back and competed for every ball but eventually they wore down and the goals just kept coming.

Michael Sawbridge scored with another trademark left footed finish as Montigue unselfishly squared the ball to tee up Mike who took one touch to beat his man before firing into the corner leaving the keeper with no chance. 8-0.

Moments later the ball was in the back of the net again. Michael Sawbridge let fly from the edge of the area once more only to be denied by the post. Fredi Stinson however followed up well to pick up the pieces to tap home from two yards to make it 9-0.

A penalty was rewarded to Chandlers Ford following a blatant shove in the area from the Botley centre back on Reece Middleton. Matt Lucas stepped up to take it and coolly despatched it to the keeper's left to complete his hattrick. 10-0.

Next, Tom Pope played the ball over the top to find Montigue who neatly lobbed the keeper with a first time finish from just outside the area for goal number 5 and Chandlers Ford's 11th of the day.

Centre back David Phillips joined in the action as he was pushed up front. He showed he is not only a quick player that can tackle but he can score goals too! His first was a one-two between Phillips and Montigue before David let fly for his first goal of the season slotting the ball past the keeper. 12-0.

Before David scored his second goal, he turned provider setting up Michael Wall who turned the ball in with a sweet strike from 18 yards as he swept the ball home with his right foot. Even better though was his celebration!! 13-0.

David Phillips sprinted past the Botley full back and skillfully rounded three defenders before sidestepping the keeper and bagging his second goal and CFY's 14th of the day.

The game was wrapped up with moments to go when Jozef Montigue volleyed home from a corner for his double hattrick as no defender bothered to pick him up.

Well done boys this was a great performance.

CFY 1-5 Colden Common

Colden Common Under 13's showed Chandlers Ford that they were no pushovers after being beat 3-0 only two weeks ago.

They found themselves 3-0 up at half time and added a fourth shortly into the second half. CFY were gifted a goal when a mix up between the Colden Common centre back and goalkeeper led to a the ball being lifted over the keepers head for an own goal.

Towards the end of the game, CFY substitute Nathan Feltham brought down a player inside the area and a penalty kick was awarded which was converted to bring to an end a game that showed no real effort or desire from Chandlers Ford.

22 April 2006

Stoneham Park 2-4 CFY

Chandlers Ford get back to winning ways after a very strong first half performance. A great hattrick from Jozef Montigue and a stunning free kick from Michael Sawbridge from distance coasted CFY into a healthy lead at the break however in the second half they conceded and didn't make their dominance in possession count. A great team performance todayt with every player doing well for the team.

18 April 2006

Winchester 1-0 CFY

CFY lost out by just the one goal to a well organised team that passed the ball around between them nicely. It was a good effort from Chandlers Ford but hopefully a wake up call.

08 April 2006

Locksheath 6-0 CFY

Not the best of performances from Chandlers Ford as they experimented with different players in this friendly match against a strong Locksheath side from the B division.

Dates and Other Info

Dear Parents,

Just a quick remider of up coming dates

Next week, 6th April, we will switch back to Magpie Lane, Eastleigh (by the old golf course car park) for our training. This will run from 5.30pm - 7.00pm.

Today we were supposed to be playing Warsash Wasps but that was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch.

Next Saturday (8th April) we will be playing Locks Heath away - venue and kick off still to be confirmed.

Saturday 15th, we will be playing Winchester Under 11's at Peter Symonds college in Winchester, 10am kick off (map to follow).

We are in the process of arranging possibly three other friendlies to be played in April, maybe one on Saturday April 22nd and the others on Thursday evenings instead of training. I will let you know dates as soon as they are confirmed.

Once we have played these then we will concentrate on training for the Six A Side Tournaments. All three have been entered with two teams in each for the following dates:

Saturday May 27th: Everton - Morning Tournament

Saturday June 24th: Warsash - Afternoon Tournament

Saturday July 1st: Whiteley - Afternoon Tournament

I have paid out of my own money in the region of £150 to enter these, as the Sixes are self funding for each team, if you have not already forwarded your money to Viv as per the note in the last magazine, could you please give to her £10 if your son is playing in all three tournaments, £7 if playing in two or £3.50 if just playing one. Could you please do this ASAP, thanks.

On the subject of money training fees will continue at £2 per week again please see Viv.

Finally a reminder of our Presentation Night on Saturday May 27th at Eastleigh Football Club, all players and their families are invited (there will be no charge for this evening as the club have sponsorship for the night. After the presentation of trophies there will also be a disco. Please come and support the evening.

I am also pleased to announce that our Chairman Colin Peters and his wife Sharon who is our Club Secretary are now both going to stay with the club for the foreseeable future which is great news for us all in view of the great work and support that they give.

Finally well done to the all the boys over the last few weeks, they have finally finished the League and Cup season on a high with a great performance in the semi final of the cup and great performances against East Lodge especially last weeks draw (a game that we could and probably should have won, but well done to there keeper for some fine saves).

Thanks again to all players and parents, lets enjoy the friendlies and Sixes and training of course!!

RICHARD MONTIGUE

P.S. please let me know of availability for the above dates.
